Online File Folder is a browser-based application that allows you to store and access your important files, safely and securely – online. Much like a folder on your hard drive, Online File Folder allows you to back up your files and stores them in a safe place for you. You'll have access to your files 24/7, you can share your files with others, and you can even encrypt your files for an extra level of protection.

Setting Up Online File Folder

Once you have purchased your Online File Folder credit, you need to log in to your account and set it up. Once complete, it takes up to 30 minutes for your Online File Folder account to become active.
To Set Up Your Online File Folder

1. Log in to your Account Manager.
   
2. From the Hosting & Email menu, click Online File Folder.
   
3. Click Setup Account.
   
4. In the User Name field, type your user name.
   
5. In the Enter your Password and Confirm Password fields, type your password.
   
6. Click Continue.
   
7. From the Email Accounts list, associate your Online File Folder with an existing email account. (optional)
   
8. Click Continue.

What file formats can I upload to my Online File Folder?

You can upload any file type that you choose to your Online File Folder, but you cannot exceed your file size limit for total storage space.

Can I send files from my Online File Folder?

If you associated your Online File Folder with an email address, you can send files when generating an email message in Web-Based Email and include the selected files as attachments in the email message. Using this feature, the Web-Based Email Compose Email screen opens with the selected files attached to the blank message. Complete the email and click Send Mail.

Can I share files from my Online File Folder?

Yes, you can share files by putting them in the Shared Files view. From the Shared Files view, you can send links to the selected file(s), allowing recipients to access and download the file(s). Sharing files provides you with an alternative to sending files as attachments in email messages. You can send a file link when you create the shared file or send it later.

Can I compress files in Online File Folder?

Yes, you can compress a file or group of files through Online File Folder to reduce the overall file size of your file and thereby decrease the time required to download files or send file attachments. The compress feature uses the popular ZIP compression format to create an archive containing the selected files.

Can I organize my files in Online File Folder?

Yes, you can organize your files in Online File Folder by building a directory tree with an unlimited number of folders and then moving your files into those folders. When you first begin, the program creates a root folder based on your user name. The root folder cannot be modified, and serves as the parent folder in the directory

Can I edit my files in Online File Folder?

The files stored in your Online File Folder are not linked to the original files you may still have saved on your hard drive. You can open files from your Online File Folder to make changes; however, the updated files must be saved to your hard drive. Any changes will not propagate to your files until you upload the updated files from their saved location. The same is also true of any changes you make in the original files. Changes to original files on your hard drive are not propagated to the files stored in your Online File Folder.

NOTE: To synchronize your files, you must save your changes to a file on your hard drive, and then upload the changed file back to your Online File Folder.

What are Web Folders (WebDAV) and how do I use them with Online File Folder?

Web Folders (WebDAV) allow you to access your Online File Folder account through your Microsoft Windows Explorer.

You can copy, rename, and move files inside your account, or even move files to and from your hard drive. Furthermore, once you have set up your Web Folder, you can open your Windows Explorer, and your Online File Folder account will display as a folder under "My Network Places."

You can create a Folder Link to your Online File Folder no matter what browser you are using. Please view our Online Help for information on creating a Folder Link using Internet Explorer or another browser.

Changing the Email Account You Associated With Your Online File Folder

If necessary, you can change the email account associated with your Online File Folder.
To Change the Email Account Associated with Your Online File Folder

1. Log in to your Account Manager.
2. In the My Products section, click Online File Folder.
3. In the Assoc. Email Acct. column, select the email account from the dropdown list.
4. Click the Save Change hyperlink.

Adding and Removing Additional Storage Space in Online File Folder

The Online File Folder comes with varying amounts of storage space, depending on the plan that you purchased. If you require additional storage space, you may purchase it in incremental packs.
To Upgrade Storage Space

1. Log in to your Account Manager.
   
2. In the My Products section, click Online File Folder.
   
3. Click the Add Storage hyperlink for the account you want to upgrade.
   
4. Proceed through the checkout process.

If you no longer need the additional storage, you may remove it from your account.
To Downgrade Storage Space

1. Log in to your Account Manager.
   
2. In the My Products section, click Online File Folder.
   
3. Click any link with a plus sign (+) next to it under Storage Space for the account you'd like to downgrade.
   
4. Select the storage units that you want to cancel, and click Yes.

NOTE: If canceling additional storage drops the capacity of your Online File Folder below the amount of storage currently in use, your account will be locked. Future uploads are unavailable until additional storage is purchased or files are purged to free up storage space.
